Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jnr has launched an investigation into how former town mayor Alice Guo, accused of ties with Chinese criminal syndicates, managed to flee the country. He warned that “heads will roll” in response to her escape after cancelling her Philippine passport.
Marcos vowed to expose those responsible for aiding in Guo’s flight, promising full accountability under the law. Guo, wanted for alleged criminal ties, denies the accusations and claims to be a natural-born Philippine citizen facing unjust allegations.
The Senate investigation into Guo began after a casino raid in her town revealed scams linked to her. She was ousted from office for grave misconduct and has since traveled to Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia using her passport.
While there are conflicting reports on Guo’s current whereabouts, her lawyer asserts she is still in the Philippines. This case further fuels Philippine concerns over China’s actions amid escalating tensions in the South China Sea.
