The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has made a significant arrest of five individuals, including high-ranking officials like Alhaji Mohammed Kabara and Alhaji Abdullahi Bashir, in connection with a multi-billion naira drugs supply scam. The commission also arrested Garba Kwankwaso, the Managing Director of Novomed Pharmaceuticals, for his involvement in the alleged scam.
The suspects are accused of colluding to award a contract to Novomed for drug supply to 38 LGAs in Kano State, violating public procurement laws. Investigations revealed that despite receiving payments from the LGAs, the drugs were never supplied.
The commission is diligently working to uncover the full extent of the scam and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. The suspects are currently in custody, cooperating with the investigation.
