A day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) summoned Kolkata Police’s ASI Anup Dutta, Union minister and West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar questioned his relationship with the Kolkata postgraduate trainee doctor rape-murder accused Sanjay Roy. Majumdar raised concerns over Dutta’s connections with TMC leaders and demanded Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s resignation.
Photos shared by Majumdar showed Dutta and Roy together, suggesting a close association between the two. Dutta reportedly provided assistance to Roy, arranging accommodation and facilitating transportation, raising suspicions of involvement in potential evidence tampering or aiding Roy’s escape. The CBI is actively investigating these claims to determine Dutta’s knowledge and role in the crime.
CBI summoned ASI Anup Dutta in connection with the rape and murder case of a 31-year-old PG trainee doctor. Roy, a former volunteer with Kolkata Police, had gained unauthorized access to various departments and misrepresented himself as a police personnel, leveraging his connections for personal benefits.
