Abraham Foxman, a Holocaust survivor and former Antidefamation League national director, voiced concern about the deteriorating situation for Jews in the US. He highlighted the need for Jews to meet in secret due to rising antisemitism, as seen at the Democratic Party National Convention.
An event hosted by Agudath Israel of America was disrupted by anti-Israel activists chanting, “Brick by brick, wall by wall, Zionism will fall.” Foxman, who experienced the Holocaust firsthand, expressed his fears for the future of the Jewish community in America.
Foxman’s successor at ADL, Jonathan Greenblatt, emphasized that targeting individuals based on their Jewish identity is antisemitic. Foxman also criticized anti-Israel activists in Chicago for aligning with Hamas and spreading hate speech against Israel.
Protesting ‘for hate speech’
Foxman commended President Joe Biden for his stance against Russian aggression and support for Israel. However, he cautioned Vice President Kamala Harris against considering an arms embargo on Israel, citing potential backlash from American Jews.
