BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 21 – Aziz Nasirzadeh has been appointed as Iran’s new Minister of Defense following a vote of confidence in Iran’s parliament. The vote, which took place today, saw Nasirzadeh elected with 281 votes.
New President Masoud Pezeshkian presented Nasirzadeh’s nomination along with other proposed ministers for approval on August 11. Nasirzadeh, who has been serving as Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces since 2021, now takes on the crucial role of Defense Minister.
