The Federal Capital Territory Administration is on a mission to reduce malaria mortality among children under five years old. Along with a new policy on health worker attire, they signed a Memorandum of Understanding with NISA Medical Group to manage Garki Hospital, Abuja. Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe highlighted the FCT Minister’s commitment to tackling healthcare challenges and providing quality and affordable services, especially for vulnerable groups.
Fasawe emphasized the urgency of addressing malaria, as ten children die of it every second in Africa. The FCT offers free medicine for children under five through the Malaria Consortium Programme and supports vaccinations through the Islamic Development Bank grant. She also mentioned the $100,000 counterpart funding towards anti-malaria medication.
The MoU with Garki Hospital aims to increase healthcare accessibility, and Fasawe stressed the importance of transparency in the partnership. The FCT is also implementing new policies for better healthcare quality, such as cashless transactions and hygiene protocols. NISA Medical Group and hospital directors pledged to uphold the agreement for enhanced healthcare services.
