An exciting development in Australia’s renewable energy sector as the government grants approvals for a massive solar farm project that aims to transmit power to Singapore. The project, spearheaded by Sun Cable, involves constructing a 12,400-hectare solar farm in remote northern Australia. The electricity generated will be transmitted to Darwin via an 800-kilometer overhead line and then further to Singapore through a 4,300-kilometer submarine cable.
The Australia-Asia PowerLink project, with an estimated cost of 30 billion Australian dollars, is expected to deliver up to six gigawatts of green electricity annually. This ambitious venture is seen as a significant step towards turning Australia into a renewable energy superpower, according to Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek. The project not only promises environmental benefits but also aims to boost the country’s economy through sustainable energy initiatives.
