Australia-Asia Power Link to Provide 15 Percent of Singapore’s Energy Needs
Australia has given the green light to a major $19bn solar power project that will export electricity to Singapore. The Australia-Asia Power Link aims to generate 6GW of renewable energy, with a third of that energy being transmitted to Singapore through an undersea cable.
Owned by billionaire entrepreneur Mike Cannon-Brookes, the project is expected to supply up to 15 percent of Singapore’s energy needs by the early 2030s. The solar farm, located in the Northern Territory, will create over 14,000 jobs and position Australia as a leader in green energy.
The project faced regulatory hurdles, but with environmental approval granted, SunCable can now focus on advancing the project.
