Analyzing the Democratic Party’s confusing new platform

Democratic Delegates Approve Biden’s “Second Term” Promises

The Democratic Party’s 2024 platform has been approved by delegates, with a 94-page document detailing promises for Joe Biden’s supposed “second term.” Despite Biden suspending his campaign and endorsing Kamala Harris, the platform still refers to Biden as the party’s candidate multiple times.

The platform includes a document compiled in July, highlighting priorities for the next four years, such as more diverse judge nominations and a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants. The inclusion of Biden’s name has sparked criticism from the Trump campaign, with claims that Harris lacks policy initiatives of her own.

Trump is mentioned 150 times in the platform, while Harris only appears 32 times, emphasizing the contrast between Biden’s and Trump’s records. The document also contains several falsehoods, including claims about Trump’s statements regarding military members and neo-Nazi protesters, as well as embellishments about Biden and Harris’ achievements.

Despite its flaws, the platform stands as a forward-looking vision for the party as it heads into the next election cycle.
