The Ultimate Challenge: Hamed al Harthy to Participate in the Khardung La Challenge
Veteran Omani trail runner Hamed al Harthy, at the age of 65, is gearing up to take on one of the toughest ultra-marathons in the world – the Khardung La Challenge in Leh, north India, on September 6. This 72km race is known for its extreme conditions, with participants running at over 4000m above sea level in sub-zero temperatures.
Hamed, who spent time in July acclimatizing to the route and conditions in Leh, will be the first Arab to compete in this challenging race. Despite the lack of support from the government or private sectors, he is determined to show that age is just a number and that with passion and dedication, anything is possible.
As an inspiration to the youth, Hamed carries a message of perseverance and hard work, urging them to pursue their goals with dedication. With no accompanying support team, he relies on the friendly people of Leh to rally behind him in this incredible journey.
Follow Hamed’s adventure as he takes on the ultimate challenge and represents Oman on the world stage.
