These militias have demanded the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq and have conducted retaliatory strikes against US bases.
Meanwhile, the IRI has announced drone attacks on Israeli targets in support of Gaza, further escalating tensions between Iran and its allies and Israel. Diplomatic efforts are underway to prevent further conflict, with calls for a ceasefire in Gaza and talks for the release of Israeli captives.
Cordone emphasized the need for de-escalation and a political solution to avoid further violence in the region, as regional actors navigate the delicate balance to prevent a full-scale war.
