Taiwan conducts live-fire drills to counter China pressure in 80 chars

Taiwan conducted a live-fire drill at the Jiupeng Military Base to address increasing military pressure from China. The exercise included launching surface-to-air missiles such as Sky Bow III, Patriot PAC II, and Standard missiles.

China considers Taiwan its territory and has escalated military threats, especially after the appointment of President Lai Ching-te, whom Beijing labels as a separatist. In response, Taiwan has enhanced its defense capabilities, focusing on missiles as a key part of its strategy.

All missiles hit their targets during the drill, showcasing Taiwan’s rigorous training. Despite China’s frequent military activities near Taiwan, Beijing did not immediately respond to the exercise.

Taiwan’s Defense Ministry reported Chinese jets and ships near its shores, with one aircraft breaching the Taiwan Strait’s median line. Despite China’s military superiority, Taiwan has improved its weaponry, extended mandatory military service, and received support from the U.S. under mutual defense agreements.
