Armenia’s Foreign Ministry has responded to the recent statement made by the Russian Foreign Minister, expressing concerns about the constructive engagement of Russia in the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan criticized the biased comments from Russian officials, highlighting that the accusations of Armenia sabotaging agreements are unfounded. The statement questioned Russia’s role as a mediator in the region, as key provisions of previous agreements have been violated.
Badalyan emphasized Armenia’s commitment to peace initiatives, including the “Crossroads of Peace” project aimed at opening regional communications. Despite positive international reception, biased statements from Russia threaten the progress towards peace in the South Caucasus.
The Armenian government remains dedicated to peace efforts and urges Russia to avoid hindering peacebuilding processes with unfair allegations. The call for cooperation and mutual respect in advancing peace in the region is reiterated by Armenia.
