Israel triples number of children killed by gunfire in West Bank

Israel’s escalating violence against children in the West Bank has reached alarming levels, with a significant increase in the number of Palestinian children killed and injured since last October. According to a UN report, Israeli forces have tripled the number of children they have shot and killed, resulting in the deaths of 115 children and injuries to 1,411 others with live ammunition. This deadly campaign has led to a record death toll in the West Bank, including tragic cases like the killings of 10-year-old Amr Mohammad Ghaleb Najar and 8-year-old Adam Samer al-Ghoul.

Despite international law prohibiting the targeting of civilians, Israeli forces continue to shoot children in the West Bank using tactics that lead to fatal injuries. The US’s ongoing support through weapon sales only exacerbates this crisis. The UN has condemned Israel’s actions, highlighting the country as a major violator of children’s rights, especially in the context of its ongoing violence in Gaza. It is essential to raise awareness and take action to protect the lives of Palestinian children in the face of such atrocities.
