Israel attack on Gaza City school leaves 10 dead

Palestinian officials report a tragic incident in Gaza City where an Israeli airstrike targeted a school-turned-shelter, resulting in the death of at least 10 individuals.

The Israeli military claims the strike was aimed at Hamas militants who had set up a command center inside the school, where they planned and launched attacks.

The strike also hit a refugee camp in central Gaza, killing five children and their mother. The father, a schoolteacher, was reportedly in Israeli detention. The area affected is among the many crowded refugee camps established during the 1948 war.

Israel insists on minimizing civilian casualties, attributing them to Hamas’ presence in residential areas. Recent strikes on schools-turned-shelters were justified as Hamas allegedly using them as hiding spots.
