The first night of the Democratic National Convention was marked by impeccable performances, leaving attendees and social media buzzing with excitement. President Joe Biden endorsed Kamala Harris as his potential successor, while Democratic heavyweights like Hillary Clinton and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gave rousing speeches.
However, amidst the cheers and applause, a pressing moral issue was notably absent from the discussions – the U.S.-backed genocidal war in Israel. Anti-war protesters gathered outside the convention, urging for a ceasefire in Gaza, but their voices were largely ignored within the event.
While some fleeting mentions of the conflict were made, they were dismissive and failed to acknowledge the severity of the situation. Calls for a ceasefire were met with applause, but without concrete actions, they rang hollow.
