The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday summoned ASI Anup Dutta, an alleged associate of the arrested accused Sanjay Roy in connection with the rape and murder of a 31-year-old PG trainee doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar MCH on August 9. In a video that has surfaced on social media, ASI Anup Dutta could be seen sprinting to reach the CBI Special Crime Branch office in Kolkata. When he reached the CGO complex, reporters asked him whether he knew Sanjay Roy. As per reports CBI has begun questioning him.
On Monday, the accused, Sanjay Roy’s mother-in-law claimed that he used to “beat his ex-wife”. She also alleged that Sanjay “bashed” his 3-month-pregnant wife and caused a miscarriage. She demanded that Sanjay be “hanged” for his crime.
“My relations with him were very tense…They were married for 2 years…His marriage to my daughter was his second marriage…Initially, everything was good for 6 months. When she was 3-month pregnant, he caused a miscarriage. He thrashed her, a Police complaint was registered for the same. Following this, my daughter continued being ill, I bore all her expenses for medicines…Sanjoy was not good,” Sanjay’s mother-in-law was quoted by ANI as saying.
“Hang him or do whatever you want with him. I won’t speak about the crime. He could not have done it alone. He doesn’t have the capacity to do it alone…” she added.
The accused in Kolkata’s RG Kar incident, Sanjay Roy had multiple failed marriages. Cops also found porn on his mobile phone. Sanjay had easy access to several departments of the hospital due to his role as a civic volunteer on the police welfare board.
He was arrested after his activities were found to be quite suspicious. Sources also said that Sanjay had a history of inappropriate behaviour with women within the hospital.
