Ukrainian Engineers to Get Buffalo Mine Vehicles

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense recently announced the approval of the Buffalo mine protected armored engineering vehicle for delivery to its armed forces. Manufactured by Force Protection, Inc, a division of General Dynamics, the Buffalo is known for its exceptional safety features and protection.

Based on South Africa’s Casspir vehicle, the Buffalo incorporates a V-shaped monohull chassis, shock-absorbing seats, and armored glass for maximum protection. It can withstand explosions equivalent to 20 kilograms of TNT and is classified as level III according to NATO standards.

The vehicle is equipped with advanced technology including infrared sensors and BAE Systems’ LROD slat cage armor for additional safety against RPG-7 rounds. The engineering version features a 9-meter articulated manipulator arm for removing mines and explosive devices.

With various upgrades and modifications over the years, the Buffalo has been in service with armies in Canada, France, Italy, Pakistan, US, and UK. Its reputation as a highly secure military vehicle makes it a valuable addition to Ukraine’s defense forces.
