KARACHI: Pakistan Freelancers Association Urges Authorities to Address Internet Issues
The Pakistan Freelancers Association (PAFLA) has called on relevant authorities to take immediate action to resolve the ongoing internet problems affecting freelancers across the country. In a statement, PAFLA President Tufail Ahmed Khan highlighted the impact of slow internet speeds and disruptions on freelancers’ ability to meet deadlines, attract clients, and generate revenue.
The association emphasized the importance of a stable internet connection for freelancers to continue contributing to the country’s economy, especially considering Pakistan’s position as the fourth-largest freelancing industry globally. Khan noted that the industry’s growth and potential are at risk if the internet issues persist.
Additionally, Federal Minister of State for Information Technology, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, addressed concerns about slow internet speeds attributing the problem to excessive VPN usage. She assured that the government is working to improve internet services and establish a digitization Commission to support the economy.
Despite speculations, the government has denied intentionally slowing down the internet and is focused on addressing the issue to support freelancers and the digital economy.
