Organizational Plan Prevents Jobar Residents in Damascus Governorate from Returning

Residents of the Jobar neighborhood in Damascus are facing challenges in returning to their homes permanently due to an ongoing organizational plan by the Damascus governorate. The plan involves residents receiving shares in new developments similar to Marota City, as the current state of the neighborhood does not allow for immediate return.

Despite the completion of the plan last year, issues have arisen due to jurisdictional disputes between the governorates of Damascus and Damascus countryside. This has led to delays in finalizing the plan and addressing administrative borders.

The Jobar neighborhood, known for intense battles between opposition factions and regime forces, has been heavily impacted, leading to the need for redevelopment plans. However, these plans have been criticized as part of a broader scheme to seize real estate and displace residents in various parts of Syria.

Similar schemes in areas like Mezzeh-Basateen al-Razi have resulted in the displacement of thousands of families without proper compensation or alternative housing, raising concerns about social re-engineering policies by the Syrian government.
