The Hellenic Police confirmed that an officer linked to inappropriate social media content retired in 2021. SYRIZA MP Elena Akrita revealed that this officer was involved in a controversial online exchange with MEP Nikos Pappas.

In response to the leaked private Instagram conversation where Pappas made offensive remarks towards the police officer, government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis urged SYRIZA leader Stefanos Kasselakis to expel Pappas from the party.
