KARACHI: MQM-P leader Syed Mustafa Kamal urges PM for a national policy to address electricity crisis

Syed Mustafa Kamal called on the prime minister to develop a comprehensive national policy, rather than a provincial-centric one, to tackle the electricity crisis in Pakistan. Speaking on ARY News, he emphasized that Karachi, contributing 51% to the economy, should be included in any relief policy for electricity bills. Expressing concerns over high tariffs, he urged immediate relief for the public and highlighted the need for clear and direct action.

In his recent meetings with the PM and PPP leaders, Kamal addressed issues related to Independent Power Producers and criticized discriminatory treatment towards Karachi and Hyderabad. He suggested offering affordable land to investors to boost investment and stressed the importance of proper management to provide relief instead of relying on IMF approvals. Kamal also raised concerns about fake domiciles affecting job allocations in Sindh.

Although he dismissed burning electricity bills as a solution, Kamal remains hopeful that the government will provide relief to the public. He urged the PM to recognize Sindh’s importance and ensure fair treatment for all regions.
