A shocking revelation has come to light, as a dissident Saudi official has accused Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of forging his father’s signature on a royal decree to commit Saudi ground troops to the Yemeni civil war. Saad al-Jabri, the former Saudi spy chief who fled the country in 2017, made this claim in a recent BBC documentary, The Kingdom: The World’s Most Powerful Prince.
Discussing the war with Susan Rice, former US national security adviser, Jabri revealed that the crown prince defied US advice and pushed for ground interventions in Yemen in 2015. According to Jabri, bin Salman forged his father’s signature on the decree authorizing the military intervention.
The Saudi-led coalition’s military campaign in Yemen has led to thousands of civilian casualties, with no clear resolution in sight. The documentary also shed light on bin Salman’s ambitions for Saudi Arabia’s economy and society, positioning himself akin to Alexander the Great.
Furthermore, the documentary cited allegations of the crown prince’s ruthlessness, including a claim that he suggested poisoning King Abdullah with a ring. Jabri himself had to flee the country, with his family members now reportedly detained in Saudi prisons.
