Lagos State Governor Declares Work-Free Day for Isese Day Celebration
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has made a historic declaration by announcing Tuesday, 20 August 2024, as a work-free day to commemorate this year’s Isese Day celebration. The decision was outlined in a circular titled “Commemoration of Year 2024 Isese Day – Declaration of Work Free Day” issued by the state’s Head of Service, Bode Agoro.
The holiday is a testament to Sanwo-Olu’s dedication to supporting traditional institutions and preserving cultural heritage. Public servants are expected to return to work on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 8:00 am.
This marks the first time the Lagos State Government has designated a public holiday for Isese Day in alignment with the United Nations’ recognition of 20th August as World Traditional Religion Day. The move highlights the government’s commitment to indigenous traditions and cultural preservation.
Let’s celebrate and honor our heritage on this special day!
