ISPR: 3 soldiers martyred, 5 terrorists killed in foiled Pak-Afghan border infiltration at Bajaur

Three soldiers were martyred and five terrorists were killed as security forces foiled an infiltration attempt at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district. The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that the terrorists belonged to the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan Fitna al Khawarij.

The brave soldiers, Naik Inayat Khan, Lance Naik Umer Hayat, and Sepoy Waqar Khan, fought gallantly and embraced martyrdom during the exchange of fire. President Asif Ali Zardari expressed regret over the incident and paid tribute to the martyrs, highlighting their bravery and sacrifice for the nation.

The ISPR emphasized the need for effective border management on the Afghan side and vowed to continue securing the borders. The Army Chief Gen Asim Munir urged the Afghan Taliban to prioritize good relations with Pakistan over supporting terrorist groups like the TTP.

Recent incidents of terrorists attempting to infiltrate the border have resulted in casualties on both sides. The Pakistan Army has been proactive in conducting operations to counter terrorism originating from Afghan soil.
