A shocking statement was made by German magazine editor Jürgen Elsaesser at the Alternative for Germany Party congress in Magdeburg. He declared himself a Putin supporter and called Defence Minister Boris Pistorius a “war criminal.”

At the congress, Elsaesser’s speech was met with applause as he criticized the German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser and accused Pistorius of heinous acts.
Compact Magazine, published by Elsaesser, was banned in Germany after an interview with Maria Zakharova, a Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson. The subsequent police raids on the magazine’s premises and staff homes created further controversy.
