German chancellor: Palestinian state essential for Middle East peace

Germany Stresses Need for Independent Palestinian State for Peace in Middle East

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz emphasized the importance of an independent Palestinian state for peace in the Middle East during a town hall meeting in Bremen. Scholz stated that a two-state solution is crucial for peace, with both Palestine and Israel existing side by side in the West Bank and Gaza. Germany, along with Europe and the US, supports this perspective despite criticism.

Last month, Germany expressed disapproval of Israeli occupation policies following a UN court ruling in favor of Palestinian self-determination. While Germany acknowledges its historical responsibility towards Israel, it does not support the occupation policy. The ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine has led to devastating consequences, with thousands of Palestinians killed and injured.

As the situation in Gaza worsens due to the continued offensive, Germany stands firm in its stance against Israeli settlement policy. The need for a peaceful resolution remains crucial for stability in the region.
