The Health Minister reported 354 cholera cases and 22 deaths, with WHO stating higher numbers. The outbreak was linked to poor environmental conditions and unsafe water usage.
Conjunctivitis cases have also increased, with over 2,600 cases reported in nine states. Experts point to the war’s repercussions, lack of precautionary measures, and inadequate vaccination campaigns as reasons for the high infection rates. The Sudanese Doctors Syndicate highlighted challenges in the health sector.
Flooding during the rainy season has worsened the situation, with 68 deaths reported since June. The conflict has led to significant loss of life and displacement. With millions affected, urgent intervention and support are needed in Sudan to address the health crisis.
