Egypt aims to boost domestic car manufacturing

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly recently met with representatives of Nissan Motor Egypt to discuss support for the expansion of local manufacturing in Egypt. The car manufacturing company plans to invest approximately US$55.9 million by 2026 to enhance its presence in the Egyptian market. Additionally, they have approved the proposal to establish a technical school affiliated with them, as suggested by the Minister of Industry.

The meeting, attended by Ministers of Industry and Transport Kamel al-Wazir and Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan al-Khatib, focused on the importance of further developing the automotive industry in Egypt. Madbouly highlighted the remarkable progress and advanced technologies at Nissan’s factory in Egypt.

Kamel al-Wazir emphasized the government’s commitment to localizing the industry and supporting various industrial sectors through regular visits to factories. Nissan Egypt’s Managing Director, Mohamed Abdel-Samad, shared plans to solidify the company’s leadership position in the Egyptian market and to establish a technical school with parent company Nissan’s support.
