CM Murad criticizes Punjab govt’s ‘bizarre’ power relief package

Sindh CM Rebukes Punjab Government’s Decision to Reduce Electricity Tariff

In a recent ceremony in Karachi, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah criticized the Punjab government’s decision to lower electricity tariffs for two months, calling it a ‘bizarre’ announcement. The CM expressed his bewilderment at such statements, stating that it puts them in a difficult position on how to respond. He also highlighted the importance of focusing on work rather than appearing on TV all the time.

The Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, also echoed similar sentiments, stressing the need for long-term relief measures for the people. He criticized the Punjab government for making short-term decisions instead of focusing on sustainable solutions.

On the other hand, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif recently announced a relief package for electricity consumers in Punjab, aiming to provide assistance to low-income households. The package includes a subsidy of Rs 14 per unit for consumers using up to 500 units, with plans for a solar panel scheme to further reduce electricity bills.
