Uncovering the Mystery Disease in Adut Adhot Village
Adut Adhot Village in Warguet Payam, Northern Bahr el-Ghazal State is currently grappling with a mysterious disease that has claimed the lives of 14 family members within a span of two weeks. The tragic situation has led to a partial evacuation in the affected village.
Residents first noticed the outbreak on July 30 when four family members succumbed to the illness. Tragically, on August 15, nine more members of the same family fell victim to the disease, followed by another death on August 18. The rapid spread of the illness has sparked fear and panic among the community.
Despite government assurances of investigation and control measures, villagers like Awan Awan express frustration over the lack of concrete action. Residents have been forced to seek refuge in churches and neighboring areas, with reports of roads being blocked to prevent the spread of the disease.
Aweil East County Commissioner Diing Aher Ngong urges calm as authorities work to uncover the cause of the outbreak. The situation remains dire as families mourn their loved ones and await answers.
