UP govt allocates Rs 28.31 Cr from Advocate Welfare Fund for 577 deceased lawyers’ kin.

In a heartwarming gesture, the Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, disbursed Rs 28.31 crore from the Advocate Welfare Fund to the families of 577 deceased lawyers. This financial assistance was provided during a ceremony at Lok Bhawan, where Adityanath and Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Arun Bhansali distributed demo checks to the beneficiaries.

Since 2017-2018, the government has supported 2,754 advocate families by disbursing a total of Rs 134.32 crore. The Chief Minister announced an increase in the fund’s corpus from Rs 200 crore to Rs 500 crore to further aid the legal community. Additionally, the assistance amount has been raised from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, with eligibility extended to beneficiaries up to the age of 70.

Adityanath also highlighted the government’s support for young advocates, providing financial aid for books and journals for up to three years to 3,758 individuals. Chief Justice Bhansali praised the important role of advocates in upholding constitutional rights and serving as the voice of the underprivileged in society.
