Tinubu approves rebuilding of Wagga bridge connecting Adamawa, Borno

President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate reconstruction of Wagga bridge linking Adamawa and Borno, according to the Director-General of the North East Development Commission, Mohammed Goni. The bridge collapse was inspected for the second time in two months in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa. Goni stated that despite initial assessments conducted after the first collapse, the bridge has now completely fallen. President Tinubu has granted approval for the reconstruction to alleviate the hardship faced by travelers on the road.

Although the reconstruction may be delayed due to rainfall, alternative solutions will be implemented to ensure smooth vehicle movement. Goni also assured the people of the repair of other damaged culverts along the road. A resident, Malam Mohammed Saidu, confirmed the bridge collapse was a result of heavy rainfall, causing challenges for locals accessing markets and farming areas. The appeal has been made to the federal and state government for immediate assistance. As harvest season approaches, the timely reconstruction of the bridge is crucial for the community’s socio-economic activities.
