Sydney Metro’s city section is set to open to the public, with tens of thousands of commuters expected to ride the new train line. The first metro train service will run from Sydenham to Chatswood, cutting travel times significantly. The new section features five new stations, offering a quick and efficient way for commuters to get around the city.
With high speeds and frequent services, the Sydney Metro line promises to deliver up to 40,000 passengers per hour during peak times. The NSW government has touted the line as a “turn up and go” service, offering trains every four minutes during peak periods.
As part of the new metro system, bus routes surrounding the stations will be adjusted, and the Sydenham-Bankstown train line will temporarily shut down for conversion to metro services.
This long-awaited expansion of Sydney’s public transportation network is a significant milestone in improving the city’s infrastructure and making commuting easier and more convenient for residents and visitors alike.
