KARACHI: Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori Demands Electricity Bill Relief for Residents
Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori has urged for a reduction of Rs14 per unit in electricity bills for Sindh residents, following the recent announcement of relief in Punjab. He praised the Punjab government’s initiative to slash electricity prices and has called for similar measures in Sindh to avoid a sense of deprivation among the people.
Highlighting the need for budget cuts to provide relief, Tessori commended Maryam Nawaz for her efforts in securing the reduction in electricity prices in Punjab. He questioned why Sindh cannot reallocate funds and provide relief like Punjab, emphasizing the importance of recognizing good work and addressing shortcomings.
In response to the recent heavy rains causing displacement in Sukkur, Tessori expressed concern and announced plans to visit the affected areas soon. He also disclosed the establishment of a cell at the Governor House to monitor the situation and coordinate relief efforts with NDMA if necessary.
The Independence Day celebrations at the Governor House were noted for their success, with plans for a program to honor martyrs scheduled for September 6th. Tessori assured that no public funds were utilized for the events, emphasizing responsible and transparent governance.
