Despite the challenges, civil defense teams have recovered 35,000 bodies, with 10,000 still trapped under rubble.
Since October 7, at least 82 civil defense personnel have been killed and over 720 injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza, as reported by the Civil Defense Agency. The agency’s facilities and vehicles have been targeted, hindering humanitarian efforts. Despite this, they have managed to recover many bodies while facing fuel shortages and continued attacks, limiting their response to emergencies.
Israel’s relentless offensive has resulted in the destruction of over 80% of urban infrastructure, leaving around 17% of explosives unexploded in Gaza. International condemnation of Israel’s actions, including facing trial for genocide against Palestinians, continues as the death toll climbs. The ongoing war has led to the displacement of nearly two million people in Gaza, with mass casualties, widespread famine, and a constant search for safety among civilians.
