Lebanon to Receive Urgent Fuel Supply from Algeria
The Lebanese government announced that Algeria has pledged to immediately supply Lebanon with fuel to address its electricity crisis. Algerian Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui assured Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati of the immediate delivery of fuel during a phone call. Mikati expressed gratitude to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for the support.
Lebanon faced a nationwide power outage due to fuel shortage at the Zahrani Power Plant, the country’s main power source. Key facilities such as the airport, port, prisons, and water treatment plants were affected. The government’s financial crisis has led to a decrease in power production, causing frequent outages.
Algeria’s swift assistance is a lifeline for Lebanon as it strives to overcome its electricity challenges. The collaboration between the two countries showcases solidarity in times of need. Lebanon hopes to stabilize its power supply with the fuel aid from Algeria.
