In a recent development, the government of the United Kingdom has expressed its commitment to support Ukraine’s defense by not shying away from the idea of using British weapons on Russian soil. This strategic move is seen as a crucial part of Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression.
The British Defense Minister and Foreign Minister have established a joint Ukrainian unit to consolidate support for Ukraine. Additionally, Prime Minister Kier Starmer has instructed the National Security Council to develop plans for providing Ukraine with a broader range of assistance, including military, industrial, economic, and diplomatic support.
Ukrainian troops have been seen using British Challenger 2 tanks in the offensive in the Kursk region of Russia. However, there are limitations to the use of certain British weapons in Russia, such as the Storm Shadow missile, which requires approval from London, Washington, and Paris.
As Ukraine keeps up the momentum in Kursk, Western analysts believe Russia may attempt a counterattack in the region by the end of October. The situation remains fluid, with the West closely monitoring developments and offering support to Ukraine as it defends its sovereign territory.
