The White House Condemns Attacks on Palestinian Civilians in the West Bank
The White House issued a statement condemning the recent attacks by “violent settlers” on Palestinian civilians in the occupied West Bank, emphasizing that such violence is unacceptable and must stop immediately.
A National Security Council spokesperson emphasized the need for Israeli authorities to intervene and protect all communities from harm, holding perpetrators of violence to account.
Reports from eyewitnesses detailed a violent mob attack on the town of Jit, where illegal Israeli settlers rampaged through the streets, firing at residents, damaging property, and causing one fatality. Israeli forces were accused of providing protection to the attackers and hindering Palestinian civil defense response.
Israeli security sources confirmed that over 100 settlers participated in the attack, setting fire to homes and vehicles while assaulting residents. The incident resulted in injuries and property damage, with no arrests made.
The ongoing conflict in the West Bank has escalated, resulting in numerous casualties among Palestinians. The International Court of Justice has deemed Israel’s occupation and settlements in the region illegal, calling for their evacuation.
