UN envoy urges Israeli govt to halt settler violence

The recent attack by illegal Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank has been strongly condemned by the UN special coordinator for the Middle East peace process. The settlers rampaged through the Palestinian village of Jit, resulting in the death of a Palestinian man, property damage, and terrorizing the community.

The special coordinator, Tor Wennesland, emphasized the urgent need for concrete steps to ensure accountability for those involved in the attack. He called on the Israeli government to put an end to settler violence.

Reports indicate that illegal Israeli settlers killed a Palestinian citizen, injured another, and set fire to homes and vehicles in the village of Jit. Witnesses also stated that the Israeli army provided protection to the settlers during their raid.

Since October 7, Israeli settler attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank have escalated, resulting in the deaths of 18 Palestinians and injuries to 785 others. The attackers have used various methods, including live ammunition, beatings, stoning vehicles, and assaulting homes, families, and farmers.
