The national postal service of Ukraine, Ukrposhta, is gearing up to open a branch in Sudzha, a town recently captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. CEO Ihor Smilyansky plans to set up a mobile branch to cater to Ukraine’s military officers stationed in Sudzha, as a means to deliver parcels effectively. This initiative is part of Ukrposhta’s strategy to use mobile branches in areas affected by conflict or with limited infrastructure.
Three key conditions for the successful expansion include approval from the government, safety assurances, and financial support. Smilyansky suggests using an armored vehicle for operations, akin to a Ukrainian Kozak armored personnel carrier, for enhanced security. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the capture of Sudzha, a town crucial for the transit of Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine.
By adapting to the challenging circumstances, Ukrposhta aims to provide essential services in conflict zones, demonstrating resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
