JD Vance is now the least popular vice-presidential candidate in modern history, with a -9 net popularity rating, worse than Sarah Palin in 2008, according to polling averages collated by FiveThirtyEight.
Donald Trump’s Republican running mate, JD Vance, has a net approval rating of -9 per cent, with only 33 per cent of voters viewing him favorably and 42 per cent unfavorably.
This is even lower than 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, whose popularity dropped to -2 per cent during her campaign with John McCain.
Vance’s approval rating started at -3, but controversial outbursts have led to a further decline, making him the least favorable candidate overall.
On the other hand, Democratic VP choice Tim Walz has seen a positive rise in popularity since being chosen as Kamala Harris’s running mate, now standing at a net favorability of +4.7 per cent.
According to Emerson College’s latest poll, Harris remains the most popular candidate, while Biden has the lowest rating at -14 per cent.
Harris has the only positive rating of the candidates
Despite being less popular than Palin, Vance’s unfavorable rating is higher than that of Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton’s running mate in 2016.
Kaine held a net favorability of -4 per cent, significantly lower than Mike Pence, the Republican VP candidate at the time with a +5 favorability rating.
