Israeli Foreign Minister Urges Allies to Join Offensive Operations Against Tehran
Israel’s Foreign Minister, Israel Katz, has called on not only the United States but also its allies, Britain and France, to publicly commit to assisting in offensive operations against Tehran in the event of a direct conflict.
During a meeting in Jerusalem, Katz urged his British and French counterparts to make it clear to Iran that any attack on Israel would be unacceptable. He emphasized that the US-led coalition would not only defend Israel but also participate in attacks on significant targets in Iran if necessary.
While Katz reiterated this stance on social media, French and British diplomats downplayed the assertions, citing ongoing diplomatic efforts to negotiate an end to the Gaza war. The joint statement following the meeting did not mention any plans for anti-Iran coalitions.
The risk of wider conflict in the Middle East has increased following the assassination of a top Hamas official in Tehran. The US has deployed additional military assets to the region to protect Israel from potential attacks, but the specifics of any plans to confront Iran remain unclear.
