Indian doctors strike nationwide following brutal rape and murder of junior medic in Kolkata.

Doctors in India have initiated a nationwide strike in response to the tragic rape and murder of a trainee medic in West Bengal. The victim, working at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, was assaulted during a nap after a long shift and subsequently found dead. The strike, led by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), aims to demand justice for the victim and ensure safety within medical campuses.

The strike has impacted patients across the country, with a million doctors participating, marking one of the largest walkouts in over a decade in India. The British Medical Association (BMA) has expressed solidarity, advocating for improved safety measures for female doctors.

The demonstrations highlight deep-rooted concerns regarding violence against women and the need for stricter laws and swift justice. The Central Bureau of Investigation is actively investigating the case to unravel the circumstances of the crime.

The healthcare sector continues to urge for enhanced safety protocols and calls for the swift resolution of the case to prevent such atrocities in the future.
