Hong Kong’s anti-graft agency celebrates 50 years with crime fighting showcase

The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) recently held an open house event that attracted a diverse audience. One visitor, a 25-year-old consultant, was particularly excited to handle the iconic pistols used by the ICAC, feeling like they were part of a movie.

The event, organized by Daniel Chui Yu-ming from the ICAC, welcomed around 6,000 visitors who were selected randomly from a record number of 19,000 ticket applications. Attendees had the opportunity to explore various facilities, including a video interview room and a VR investigation training system.

One visitor, a bus terminus supervisor, found the VR training system stimulating as it challenged him to make quick judgments in investigative scenarios. Another visitor, a father of two, brought his sons to learn about local history and the values promoted by the ICAC.

Overall, the ICAC’s open day showcased its work and history, attracting a diverse crowd and educating the public about the organization’s important role in combating corruption.
