Dhaka Uni students protest in solidarity with Kolkata rape-murder protests

In a show of solidarity with the ongoing protests in India against rape and murder cases, students at Dhaka University in Bangladesh took a stand to demand justice for victims. Under the banner ‘Awaaz Tolo Nari’ (Raise Your Voice, Women), students gathered at the Raju Sculpture to raise awareness and demand legal assistance and strict law enforcement in such cases.

The movement, led by students from various departments, emphasized the need for accountability and fair trials in rape cases, including the recent incident at R G Kar Medical College in Kolkata. They also called for public trials in other cases, such as the rape and murder of Sohagi Jahan Tonu in Comilla, highlighting the importance of transparency and justice for victims.

The students’ protests and demands reflect a growing concern over the lack of justice for rape victims, calling for a safer environment for women. This mass uprising of student communities aims to push the government to take action against all forms of violence towards women and ensure their safety. The students’ efforts also included observing the “Occupy the Night” program to show solidarity with similar protests in India, signaling a united front against injustice and urging for a fair investigation in rape cases.
