Azerbaijan exempts defense imports from taxes & customs – 76 characters

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 17. President Ilham Aliyev has recently signed an order that will have a significant impact on the defense industry in Azerbaijan. The order exempts the import of defense-related goods from taxes and customs duties, a move aimed at boosting the local defense sector.

The amendment to the Law “On Customs Tariff” will benefit entities engaged in the design, production, sale, repair, and maintenance of defense products by allowing them to import technologies, equipment, components, materials, and raw materials without having to pay customs duties. This exemption is subject to the condition that they possess a confirming document from a designated body approved by the relevant executive authority.

Furthermore, the amendment to the Tax Code will also provide tax exemptions for the sale, repair, and maintenance of defense articles produced by these entities. This initiative is expected to stimulate growth in the defense industry and strengthen Azerbaijan’s national defense capabilities.
