In a bid to streamline state machinery and reduce administrative expenses, the government of Pakistan has made a remarkable decision to abolish 28 departments across five ministries. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting where these crucial changes were discussed and approved based on the recommendations put forward by a reforms committee.

Moreover, the Prime Minister has personally taken charge of overseeing the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority to uplift the SME sector. The authority will now operate under the PM Office, ensuring direct supervision and efficient reforms.

Furthermore, PM Shehbaz has also initiated reforms in the gemstone sector to enhance the industry’s potential and boost exports. He emphasized the need for modernizing mining techniques and value addition processes to maximize the sector’s productivity.
