Yobe State Governor lauds impact of foreign-trained graduates on health sector
The Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, expressed confidence that the 167 foreign-trained graduates sponsored by his administration will significantly contribute to the state’s health and other critical sectors. The state government had sponsored these students to study specialized courses in India back in 2020 under the “Yobe scholars” program.
During the graduation ceremony attended by the governor’s representative, Speaker of the Yobe House of Assembly Buba Mashio, it was revealed that the graduates were trained in various fields like medical laboratory science, pharmacy, radiology, physiotherapy, and computer science among others.
The statement further highlighted the success of the scholarship program with a total of 63 students graduating from GD Goenka University, 73 from Integral University, and 22 from Kalinga University. The governor’s aide also noted a significant increase in the number of optometrists and pharmacists trained in the state over the past four years.
Congratulating the graduates, Governor Buni encouraged them to remain dedicated in their future endeavors. The Nigerian High Commission in India also commended Yobe’s scholarship initiative.
