Recent reports indicate that Ukraine’s offensive into Russia’s Kursk Region has caused a weakening of the front in the Donetsk People’s Republic, allowing Russian forces to advance on the strategic location of Pokrovsk. Despite Kiev’s intentions to draw reserves from Moscow, Russian forces have continued to press on Ukrainian positions in Donbass.
According to Ivan Sekach, spokesperson for Ukraine’s 110th Mechanized Brigade, the situation on their part of the front has deteriorated, with less ammunition and increased Russian pressure. The 110th currently faces Russian advancements in Pokrovsk, a crucial hub for supplying Ukrainian forces in Donbass.
Ukrainian sources suggest the incursion into Kursk was a strategic move to create leverage in negotiations with Russia; however, it backfired when Kiev diverted resources from Donbass. Moscow, on the other hand, has dismissed talks with what they label as “terrorists.”
Russian Defense Ministry reports indicate significant losses for Ukrainian forces in Kursk, with casualties and equipment destroyed. Moscow estimates Kiev’s losses to be substantial in the ongoing operations.
